GEDCOM is a standardized database format that virtually all genealogical softwares recognize (e.g. Brothers' Keeper, Legacy, Personal Ancestral File, Family Tree Maker, Master Genealogist, Reunion, etc.)

In a number of cases the indexing and transcription projects on the MHSA website that are easy to view and print are associated with gedcom files that can be imported into a genealogical software. They are cross-referenced wherever the viewable data are discussed, but are inventoried here for another kind of easy review.

To download in a PC environment, right-click the link and "save as" to your hard drive. Unzip as necessary, and import into your genealogy software. (uncertain of the command to download files to a Macintosh, but know that gedcom and zip files are equally useable in that environment.)

Before downloading any of the files, be sure to consult the viewable pages on our site and back up your own genealogy database before importing these other other gedcom files.
